Suicide Warning Signs


Recognizing the warning signs of suicide can save lives. If you or someone you know is experiencing any of these signs, please take them seriously and seek help immediately.

Warning Signs May Include:

 

  • Talking about wanting to die or kill oneself

  • Expressing hopelessness, helplessness, or depression

  • Discussing feelings of failure, shame, or self-hatred

  • Showing irritability, agitation, or anxiousness

  • Expressing concerns about being a burden to others

  • Talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain

  • Withdrawal or isolation from friends and family

  • Feeling they don’t belong

  • Changes in behavior, risky behavior, or alcohol/drug abuse

  • Poor work or school performance

  • Eating and/or sleeping too little or too much

  • Extreme mood swings

  • Giving away possessions

  • Looking for a way to kill oneself​

With help comes hope, help prevent suicide.
